Snow

The latest chapter of "Scarab" finally showed up on ff.net! Yay. Now I just gotta write the next one, and the one after that, and the end, and I'm done.

Looking out the window, and the snow's coming down hard. I've spent this week hammering at law stuff ... I think this afternoon I may just hit a mountain. New Jersey may be the joke of the nation, but for a small state, there's a lot out here. Including a couple of mountains with downhill ski runs, pretty accessible. If the roads are OK.

If you're taking up skiing for the first time in thirteen years and the doofs at the ski shop won't touch your ski bindings for fear that they'll get sued to smithereens if some mishap happens ... you can loosen them yourself. But not too much.

I should have done that before I took my first run down the mountain and had to dodge a snowboarder and went belly-up with my skis windmilling all over the place. One-hundred-eighty-centimeter skis develop some torque.

Ouch.

Ouch ouch.

Thank goodness we're only talking long-soak-in-a-tub-built-for-someone-half-my-size ouch, not major-surgery-lifetime-of-pain ouch.

My brother's got that second option covered. Who knew that skipping stones could lead to crippling injuries?
