So maybe not as bad as all that
Aug. 30th, 2009 04:23 pmThis may be just a case of "always look on the bright side", but apparently the will in Israel that might encumber the new apartment I'm hoping to buy? Pre-dates the current owner, who bought the place under a mortgage. And it has been pointed out to me that the banks in Greece are strict in their lending practices, which makes it somewhat less likely that a bank would grant a mortgage secured by a property that was already encumbered.
So, there's a chance that the sale could go through anyway, all dependent on whether the title I'm to receive is clear. No clear title, no sale. I'm not getting a new place "subject to" any other claims.
