bktheirregularGeneral strike again today. Shutting down the entire capital and the main sea port right when tourist season is starting to get rolling.
Went to the suburbs to go buy a couple of shirts yesterday, and my cab driver announced to me that he was a Communist, and proud of it, and that capitalism was a monstrous thing (citing Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia), and asking me to join in a cheer for Lenin and Stalin.
This was in broken English, after I'd given him my destination in Greek.
I didn't say a word, mindful that I'd be ... well, maybe not quite unarmed in a war of words, but my language skills aren't up to a full-blown political argument. So maybe it'd be like showing up for an artillery duel with a spork.
I gave him a two-euro tip. He was quiet for most of the trip, other than the one outburst.
I'm at the office. Hey, the unions going on strike doesn't mean that my office's clients suddenly don't need help any more.
