Heat wave in Athens - one hundred degrees out today. (My brain still thinks of temperatures in Fahrenheit. Though I'm slowly learning about cooking in Celsius.)
More strikes - metro system today, and an all-out mass-transit strike tomorrow, taking down the buses. Makes things interesting, because an old friend of my parents' is coming into town from New York, and catching a boat to the island directly from the airport. Normally, the preferred mode of transit would be an express bus, but if those are down, it'll have to be a taxi.
To say nothing of the question of whether there's going to be another wildcat strike shutting down Piraeus. Again.
Things like that make me marvel that anyone would come to this place as a tourist at all.
