ok, so I screwed up, apparently.
Oct. 21st, 2009 08:44 pmSo, I wasn't sure what to think, wasn't sure what to do, how to respond, when someone asked me for permission to use the term "Tarithna" to refer to the Jaffa term for "Slayer". I figured I'd ask for input (here on DW, here on LJ).
Was I malicious when I did so? I didn't think so when I posted, but then, I've often been terrible at judging how people will react to things I say, and about whether I've been impolite or hurtful.
Apparently hurtful, judging from a screaming furious response I got, accusing me of laughing, of being subhuman, of wanting the writer lynched.
My intention in posting had been to sound out the flist for advice on how to respond - inviting mockery isn't my thing. Or at least it shouldn't be my thing. If I was inviting mockery, then I was wrong to do so.
I'm leaving this open, because the post that caused the problem was likewise open, and mea culpas aren't worth a damn if the injured party can't read them.
