Some days...
Aug. 28th, 2009 03:58 pmNews from the potential-new-apartment front.
The good news? Well, I still have my health. After a fashion.
The apartment, on the other hand, is apparently subject to an encumbrance that means that I wouldn't be able to purchase it free and clear. Specifically, there's some sort of last will and testament on file somewhere in Israel which retains the rights to the underlying ownership, so if I'd gone ahead with the purchase, I could have been screwed out of house and investment at the same time.
Seller apparently chose to ignore (or didn't investigate enough to discover) the encumbrance when he purchased the place.
And it was such a nice place, too. Ah, well. What's the first rule about something that looks too good to be true, after all?
