Me: "I've checked every dictionary I could get my hands on, and I can't find this word [προέβημεν] in any of them. You got any ideas?"
Colleague: "Oh, yeah. That's archaic Greek. Means 'we proceeded with'."

Maybe once I'm done with this translation, I should feed it into an English-to-pirate-English converter. Or pepper it with bits of "Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe".

Well, there's always the Liddell and Scott Lexicon, which is the standard dictionary; you could also pick up Athenaze book II which has a list of conjugations and declensions in their myriad forms in the back, so you'd be able to match what you see to the ancient. Books I and II are used for year 1 Greek in a lot of universities, UB and Cardiff included. If you're stuck, you can also just drop me an email and I'll see if I can figure it out. :)
