Too many bureaucrats
Jan. 29th, 2008 03:12 pmThe office in Athens suggested that I contact the consulate, and give them the telephone contact information for the central authority that now has my paperwork for the work permit and visa and such.
The consulate said that they're not allowed to contact the authority in Athens, and they can't do anything until permission for them to issue me a visa comes from that authority. They were acting as though I should have had the permission in hand, when the best information I had from Athens was that the permission would be coming into the consulate.
I just want to get all those bureaucrats into one room and bang their heads together like billiard balls. Maybe then something coherent would come out of the tangle...
