Thought of the day
Jul. 13th, 2007 03:50 pmWashington, D.C. is laid out as a planned city, like Paris, only more so, because there was a Paris before the boulevards were laid out from the Arc de Triomphe, but there wasn't much but swampland before the city of Washington was built.
Like Paris, Washington is built around large boulevards that radiate out from a central point. In Paris, that central point is the Arc de Triomphe.
In Washington, that central point is not the White House, but Capitol Hill.
