Blackout! (or was it?)

bktheirregularGot a call from my dad today, asking how I'd fared during the adventure.
"What adventure?"
Apparently there was a big blackout in New York, taking out a good deal of Manhattan's East Side, from near Yankee Stadium down to ... jeez, I don't know.
"There was a blackout?"
Apparently I missed the whole thing.
(To be fair, when I got back to the apartment, right in the middle of the reported blackout zone, there were no signs of power failure. No blinking clocks, no twelve o'clock on the VCR.)
