One thing and another
Mar. 13th, 2007 02:05 pmSo, my grandmother's apparently somewhat on the mend. I think I might have mentioned that.
Actual news, though: after waiting for about two months, the following events occurred:
- OTE technician rang my doorbell.
- OTE technician found my apartment's phone jack, hiding behind my refrigerator.
- OTE technician fiddled with the phone jack for not more than three minutes.
- OTE technicial examined my passport for thirty seconds and had me sign a piece of paperwork.
- OTE technician told me that the phone would be working shortly.
- OTE technicial left, having spent not more than ten minutes in the apartment.
- Ten minutes after OTE technician left, I plugged in the el-cheapo telephone I brought with me from New York, got a dial tone (a Greek dial tone is not like an American one, but rather a "beep-beeeeeeep" pattern), dialed my mobile phone, and was amazed to hear my mobile phone ring.
Summary: yay!
