Checked a job search site, got a call back from the people running it, arranged to get out about three hundred resumes to New York law firms. Hopefully something will come up.

This could be where it all begins.

Down side: you know that line you put at the bottom of the resume, the one that says "references available upon request"? Well, one of my big guns under References was the Director of Public Safety for the county, the guy I worked for, the guy whom I showed where they kept the pencils and such.

Turns out that he lost his job when the county government changed hands. And he's still looking.

So much for that.

Close entry.

Up Side: You never know. I went to several interviews, went to six job fairs, put my resume on half a dozen job search sites... and as an afterthought, tossed a few copies of my resume into my college's Resume Drop at the last possible minute.

Guess what prompted my current employers to call me in for an interview? The resume drop. The least-thought-out job hunt attempt. Figures.

Up Side #2: One of the other 2 potential job offers I got found me through a job search site. (But it wasn't worth moving to Tennessee.)

Doesn't it carry some weight that he was the Director of Public Safety, period? Or will they just look at the fact that he isn't now and disregard that it was due to the change of government?

Hang in there. I hope this works out for you. :)
