Call from the temp agency - with all the commotion about my hormone levels (genuine serious medical condition, not the type of hormones that get joked about), I'd forgotten I was still on their list. So, back to Fafnir, Smaug, and Tiamat, Abraxas of counsel.

At work now, but running a search for a phrase in a file somewhere on the local net, so I figure I can blog while the search is running.

Starting to come to terms with Graves' Disease, a little. Bathroom scale this morning said 160.6, so effectively, I've lost fifteen pounds in fifteen days. Shakes keep coming and going, and so do sweats, especially around the eyelids, for some reason - becoming a little self-conscious about my eyes, because part of what happens with the thyroid hormone overproduction is that the eyes start protruding, bulging out.

I'm not in Marty Feldman territory, thankfully, but yeah, that's how he got those eyes of his.
Which can be more than a little scary, considering...

Sorry. Rambling. Search hasn't come up with scratch so far.

Scary jazz.

Once the meds kick in, and you get your levels under control, you're not going to be at risk for all of the side effects of the disease, are you? I mean, yeah, you'll still monitor everything, but didn't the doctor offer any kind of reassurance about living a healthy life with Graves' Disease? of course, when I was diagnosed with type II diabetes, the doc told me all about amputations and blindness and stroke, but neglected to add that by losing weight and keeping my blood sugar under control, I can actually keep myself from developing the complications. Have you had a chance to do any research on your own? It might help you feel better about your condition.

Finding this stuff out, especially when we're adults and used to our bodies working, is very scary, I know. It sucks. And blows. He he he...
