Grab bag

I'm seething over an exchange in the yankeesfans corner which went something like this:

Yankee fan: "I DO respect the hell out of Jason Varitek. That guy is total class."
Me: "Except for throwing the first punch against A-Rod."
Red Sox fan: "He had good reason. A-Rod wanted Tek to hit him, and you know it."

Let's just say ... I was scathing in response, but not as much as I'd like - but that's only because I felt that a proper response to that line of reasoning would have involved nuclear weapons, and I don't keep stuff like that in my spare-parts box.

(Oh, by the way, did anyone happen to tape BSG "Water" last night? 'Cos I was a dunce and forgot again that after I programmed the VCR, I needed to turn it off.)

I would if I knew it, yeah. Although I've been having this awful feeling for months now that sometime last fall, I was sucked through a portal into a mirror universe where evil is good, freedom is slavery, dissent is treason, sadism is good sportsmanship, and the Red Sox are world champions.

Oh, wait, that last actually did happen more than once in the real world, didn't it?
