Snurched from [livejournal.com profile] celli.

Five nicknames you've had.

- Jupiter. (Short for Jumping Jupiter, because I seemed to have an excess of energy when I started with the ambulance corps.)
- The Viking Prince. (Given by my first crew chief. Don't ask, I haven't got a clue, either.)
- BK. (Because it's my initials.)
- Nighthawk. (Hung on me by a guy in high school, when I drove a motorcycle-ish moped to school for a year. Maybe it was the helmet.)
- Santiago. (Because they could never find a proper translation of my name for Spanish class.)

Five books you've read recently.

- Back Story, by Robert B. Parker. Finished in approximately three hours.
- The Killer Department, by Robert Cullen. Story of the search for a serial killer in Russia. Made into the HBO movie Citizen X.
- Tricky Business, by Dave Barry.
- A Night to Remember, by Walter Lord.
- The Lord of the Rings. Can the three books count as one?

FIve quirky facts about you.

- I speak Greek with an accent that natives recognize as foreign, but foreigners mistake for native.
- I dream in color.
- I have no innate sense of which way to turn a bolt to unscrew it. I learned this when I easily replaced a starter-pull on a lawn mower which had stymied my father and my cousin for a day and a half. The bolt was threaded the wrong way.
- If I utilize a number, a keyword, or a security phrase more than four or five times, it gets burned into my brain somehow. I can still recall the phone number of a would-be high-school sweetheart, though she undoubtedly no longer lives there, and half the web sites I check out, I type in the URL manually instead of relying on bookmarks.
- I apparently read at a frightening pace. I read the first Harry Potter book cover to cover in about two hours. (This causes problems when I get a book to read on an airplane, because if I've only got that book, it'll be done while the plane's only halfway to its destination...)

Five people who have influenced your life.

Hm. My folks for two, obviously; Robert K. Tanenbaum, whose books on the New York DA's office piqued my interest in the law; the author Donald Kingsbury, who must have helped spur my interest in writing, even if only from his tales of the days he and my dad mixed rocket fuel in Dad's basement; and Tricia, a girl I knew in high school, who pretty much broke my self-confidence out of its shell. (It's looked for rocks to crawl under in the time since, but she first brought it out into the light.)

Five things to which you're looking forward.

Finding a job, finding a place, becoming a contributing member of society again, returning to meaningful interaction with the people around me, and getting back to seriously writing.

Close entry.
