Scarab chapter 12 is out to beta. Chapter 13 in progress. Which should mark the actual end of the fic, save an epilogue.

Should be sleeping, but can't ... the iron's hot and I need to keep striking. I might even be able to finish it tonight.

Or maybe not such a good idea.

Anyway.

If you're gonna stay up into the wee hours of the night writing, be sure to read it over again after getting some sleep. It's amazing the nonsensical things that get thrown into your prose when you're half-awake. (I found a LONG tangent about penguins and those bouncy things in toy stores in the middle of a part of "The Key and the Sword" that was written late at night when I read it over the next morning.) On the one hand, it's highly amusing to see what your brain will throw out, on the other hand, it's annoying when you have to try and remember what you REALLY INTENDED to write in that passage... :)

I ended up not doing too much last night on Chapter 13 ... some preliminary conversation. Actually, the chapter takes only a few minutes of story time, and after that, it should be fade to black.

But then it's a little different if you're working on something that you had tightly charted over the past year, perhaps.

Penguins and hoppity-hops, huh? Could have been worse; at least there weren't moose...
