Some day, I'm going to learn.

I obviously haven't yet.

You know what? Someone just tattoo on my forehead: "Do not trust this man to file a lawsuit for you."

Or if there's not enough room on my forehead for that, tattooing "LOSER" up there would serve just as well.

I'm not comfortable posting this in the journal of a complete stranger, so I'm answering here.

*hugs* Honestly, what you said does make a certain amount of sense. Most social change works on a sort of pendulum, and some progress is made in one direction, and then there's a backswing - only to make more progress later. That means it's theoretically possible to eventually swing too far in the direction of your progress. I doubt we're that close to it now, but theoretically, it can happen.

And personally I'm not a proponent of "It hasn't happened before, therefore it can't happen." That's...shortsighted. Some women ARE violent. Some women ARE abusers. Many women nowadays DO discriminate against men, already. Go take a look at some of what passes for "battle of the sexes" type humor sometime. To listen to some women, men are incapable of rational thought. Or self control. Or reading a map. I've known a lot of men who are pretty darned good at all three. While the jokes can be funny, some of them just have a level of vitriol that makes them NOT funny anymore.

*I* am a feminist, but I'm often rather embarrassed by some of the viewpoints that are supposed to be feminist. I'm one of those people that is frequently accused of not being what I am, based on definitions that in my mind go too far. Heck, feminists accused Marian Zimmer Bradley of being anti-feminist because she dared show respect for men in some of her work, and in her personal life (if I'm recalling correctly.) It's a sad fact that the feminist movement has shot itself in the foot more than once by WANTING to get that pendulum swung over too far.

And, hey, tilting at windmills is highly underrated. ;-)
