Minor good news

The back pay I was owed from the spring finally showed up in my bank account. My financial status has accordingly changed from "I need to watch every penny euro" to "I ought to be careful with money, but at least I've got a nice fluffy safety cushion now".

Plus, it's in euros, not greenbacks, and at the moment? Not such a bad thing.

Desktop computer finally reached a point where I had to do a fresh installation of Windows. After a couple of crashes necessitating recoveries from backups, the thing worked, sort of, but it had gotten ... manky.

Backed up all the critical stuff, installed without a hitch, connected my wireless network adapter, and then ran the Windows Update.

Which wanted to install, by my actual count, ninety-five separate patches.
