I just started hissing obscenities at my laptop for something that wasn't even its fault - a Very Important Database in Washington was misbehaving badly, and my frustration boiled over for a minute there.

Which would have been okay except that two people sitting right next to me gave me very odd looks in response.

*sigh* The world is doomed...

"This guy I know wants to know if he can get back the Bill O'Reilly book I borrowed from him. He says he wants to build up a collection of independent-thinking books."

My suggestion: take that Bill O'Reilly book, glue it cover-to-cover with a copy of Franken's book, and send him that.

Co-worker got an e-mail from one of his acquaintances asking to have a copy of a Bill O'Reilly book returned to him - because he "wants to build up a library of independent-thinking books."

My response from across the hallway: "Glue the O'Reilly book cover-to-cover with a copy of Al Franken's book and send him that. That'll give you independent, plus fair and balanced."

*wince*

Sorry about the double-post on the same topic. Apparently it took a long time for LJ to record that I'd posted.

Computers seem to hate me today. First the Washington database computers. Then the LJ computer. Then the UPS computer at Staples. ([livejournal.com profile] taraljc, look for a largish box on Monday, 'kay?)

It all hopefully worked out sort of okay, though.

Time to ponder food. And the All-Star Game.
