Almost oops

Went to wash out a glass, saw my brother on the couch watching the Sunday night baseball game. I expressed disbelief that the featured teams included the Mets, but my brother set me straight: the other featured team was the Philadelphia Phillies. "They're in the wild card hunt," he said.

Or rather, that's what he meant to say. Instead, what came out of his mouth was: "They're in the wild hard--"

--at which point he yanked on his mouth's emergency brake.

Some days, my brother's mind works more quickly than my own.
