Bad thing: Went at 10:30 to get a haircut and the barbershop wasn't open until 12.

Good thing: Went at 12 and got the haircut.

Bad thing: Took me over three hours to get a free cellphone upgrade (wouldn't have done it except that kid brother needs a working phone and this frees up my used Vader-phone for his use).

Good thing: Got the upgrade done.

Bad thing: They didn't have a good phone at the Verizon stores.

Good thing: They had the right phone at RadioShack.

Bad thing: The clerk at the RadioShack was an incompetent frellnik who screwed up every step of the way and kept me standing at the counter for an hour while he futzed around.

Good thing: He finally got it done.

Bad thing: It wasn't done until 4pm, when I'd told him specifically to maybe hurry up 'cos I had to be in East Rutherford at 4.

Good thing: Turned out I didn't have to be there until 4:30.

Bad thing: The above-mentioned incompetent frellnik charged me eighty bucks for my free upgrade, and I was running so late that I said frack it, charged it on my Amex card, and resolved to challenge the charge off if necessary.

Good thing: As a result of my angry call to Verizon customer service, I got confirmation that I was eligible for the free upgrade, and that if the RadioShack won't give me my money back, a Verizon store will.

Tomorrow morning, before going into the campaign office, I will stop by the RadioShack. With a large hatchet to make my point.

Oh, yeah:

Bad thing: Back is killing me from standing around playing traffic cop for three hours.

Good thing: In the process, met both of my state's Senators, several Congresspersons, two Governors, and had a fifth-row seat for (pleaselordplease) the next President of the United States.

Funny thing: After the Big Event, stopped by a fast-food joint and bought some chicken for dinner. Forgot to give my name, so when they called my name, I thought they were referring to someone else ('cause how would they know my name if I didn't give it to them?).

Then I looked down and realized I was still wearing my name tag from the gala.
