Moved more snow out of the way this morning; big problem at this point is likely to be ice. We've got snowmelt coming off the roof and ice forming on the front porch; had to go at it with an ice chipper. May have to put down the anti-icing compound again tonight; not quite sure.

Back to study today, reviewing those topics that I feel weakest in, but starting to gain confidence. Some confidence. Have to keep at it, while not forgetting to eat or such in the meantime.

Aside: during a break, I took a glance at "The War Prayer". The Mark Twain short story, not the Babylon 5 episode.

Then I looked at it again. Hard.

Maybe certain alleged world leaders who shall remain nameless should read that story very carefully, as well.

There was also a note beforehand: Samuel Langhorne Clemens had been urged not to publish "The War Prayer" during his lifetime, because it was feared by those who knew him well that the country at large would consider it blasphemy.

The more the world changes, the more it stays the same, it seems.

For those interested, who can't find it on their bookshelves, "The War Prayer" is available online here.

Fnord.

Close entry.

Not long after 9/11...

I read this one. And it hurt to think about it. Just like it hurts now. You have to go into this with eyes open.

I'm saying a different prayer, the one that gets added onto the end of the litany of prayers during mass often - "give wisdom to our world leaders, so they may lead us with mercy and compassion."

*sigh*
