bktheirregularSo in preparation for maybe going out on a new job, I collect things. Pens, pencils, that sort of thing. Bringing laptop might not be a bad idea, because the last steady temp assignment I had, I could seriously have used it.
One down side. Cortana doesn't have a floppy disk drive, so I'd need to use the built-in CD burner or a flash drive. I grab a few CD-RW blanks to check out - mini size and full-size - and learn the hard way that there's also a different CD system in place from what I've learned to use on the desktop.
This new and, ahem, "better" system takes twenty minutes of formatting before it can begin to use a CD-RW, and once it's formatted the CD, it leaves me with, oh, a hundred fifty megs of space missing on a full-size CD, fifty megs gone on a mini-CD. Which I know doesn't matter a lot if what's being tossed around are hundred-fifty-K doc files, but it's kinda the principle of the thing, y'know?
*sigh* After a week's work, I may have enough in the bank that I can purchase a floppy drive for Cortana. If the temp agency will frackin' call me back...
