2) I was once offered the helm of a sailboat belonging to a Greek regatta champion, and proceeded to pilot that boat between two Greek islands.

3) I once gave medical care to the family of a Nobel Prize winner.

4) I once successfully proved to my teacher that the dog ate my homework.

< looks sternly at Mr. Pessimist > We fought the Marlins tooth and nail in extra innings and only lost by a run. On a night when we were starting a guy who isn't our best pitcher, and he was not having his best night. And we still fought to a bloody end.

While chockie is always appreciated, don't go buying it yet. I think you can have a little faith in our boys for a little while longer, m'dear. :p

Yeah, yeah, you're right. I should've remembered. (After all, I still remember comments in the Atlanta papers after Game 2 of the '96 Series, that the Yankees were toast, that the only question was whether the Braves were the best team of the century...)

Sorry. Best excuse I can come up with: my first coherent Yankee memory is the '81 World Series, watching the Bombers getting smoked by the Dodgers in six, and then playing .400 ball for the next seven or eight years...

Prior, thank god. Dusty willing and the crick don't rise, we can start both him and Wood twice. (Whether we should do this is an entirely different story, sadly.)

Will be flipping between Yankees and Cubs tonight; I'll have faith if you do.

Haven't lost faith yet. < g > Just old experience telling me to be prepared, plus I was in a Lindt chocolate store yesterday running errands.

And a small laugh, too, from old times: I recall an old New York subway board game called "Straphanger", which had as one of its special event cards:
