International tax headaches

Me: "Okay. Dealing with a headache from filing my taxes."
Colleague: "Ouch. The Eforia [Greek tax office] is awful."
Me: "Can't be worse than the American system."
Colleague: "No, it's got to be worse. The American tax system can't be as bad as the one here."
One part grass-is-always-greener, one part ... I don't know.
And given that one of the major problems with the economy is that so much stuff goes on under the table, gray-market, black-market, and tax returns normally bear no resemblence to reality (although I'm not planning on lying about anything on my own return)...
