Time flies?
Aug. 16th, 2009 10:49 amHas it really been a month since my last update?
Guess I haven't had that much to say. Finally relaxing in the islands, though my vacation's almost over - leaving tomorrow to return to Athens and work. Last time I did a weekend trip out here, I made the mistake of catching the late boat home - and by "late", I mean the boat arrived at Piraeus at two in the morning, screwing up the next day from sleep deprivation. Tomorrow, I catch a boat at twelve-thirty in the afternoon, arriving half-past three or so.
Used to be, in the old days, that the boat trip would take eight hours. Back before the high-speed ferries. Heck, there was a time when the only way to get a car onto the island was to have it winched into a ship's hold at Piraeus, and then out again at the island dock. That was over thirty years ago, though. There's not enough space for all the cars on the island right now; too many people bring cars with them.
Same with Athens: too many cars. On the bright side, they're trying to expand the metro system, and will hopefully be opening up the metro line to the airport again.
More when I'm more coherent, or actually have something to say.
