1. Wasn't much into rock music when I was young, so I'm not sure I can get five.
(a) Billy Joel.
(b) Dire Straits.
(c) The Blues Brothers.
(d) John Williams and the Boston Pops, which is really pushing the definition of "bands/singers" beyond all recognition.
2. Songs I can manage, though, if I can stretch "when I was a kid" far enough.
(a) Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms".
(b) Dire Straits' "Industrial Disease".
(c) Billy Joel's "Piano Man".
(d) Billy Joel's "Code of Silence".
(e) The theme to "1941". (Never saw the movie, but you can't listen to that theme and not smile.)
3. My folks watched very little TV, and discouraged me from watching anything much. Afternoon cartoons kind of blended into a slurry in my memories, and Saturday morning cartoons were just right out.
(a) The Muppet Show. (About the only thing on TV that my folks wholeheartedly approved of.)
(b) The Dukes of Hazzard (whenever I could get away with it).
(c) CBS News (I still vaguely remember Walter Cronkite, and the day Dan Rather took over, and they changed the sets from a warm yellow to a cool blue).
(d) Dynasty (my grandmother watched it when she was in the USA; she never learned English, but somehow was able to follow the plots.)
(e) Transformers (again, when I could).

(a) The Star Wars Trilogy (does that count as one, or three?). (And that's the original trilogy, the version in which Han shot first, thank you very much.)
(b) The Black Hole.
(c) Blue Thunder.
Don't have much in the way of pithy explanations for some of these, I'm afraid. Been a busy day.
Oh, yeah.
