Gonna take a couple more days for the next part of "One Giant Leap".
Chicago trip's pretty much set: plane ticket, train ticket, lodging, car rental (hopefully this time they don't stick me in a frakking SUV, thank you very much). Don't have a general plan for what I'm doing while I'm there; several places recommended for visits, but I'm leaving things open. Basically because I don't know who's gonna be around, and where they're going to be, and I want to have some flexibility.
Fundamentally, while there's a generous amount of sight-seeing to be done, it can all be shelved in favor of people-seeing, which I consider much more important.
(Of course, there's always the possibility that I'm going to land in the middle of some Momentous Event that everyone else knows about, which I would have known about and been able to schedule around if I were any bleeping good at communicating with people.)
(And now that I've got this plan set, the odds increase slightly that I'll get notice that I'm needed back in Athens just in time to screw it all up. Though the odds of that aren't great, considering this trip goes down a week from today.)
So, anyone gonna be around greater Chicago and not buried up to the eyeballs in prior commitments on the evening of the 11th, or on the 12th or 13th? I don't want to crash any parties uninvited...
