Snurched from [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about the same?

A lot more than I figured. Part of it came from being logjammed on "Scarab" for most of a year, and, well, I kinda was hoping to be very busy being employed for at least part of the year.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2003?

Battlestar Galactica. If you'd told me last January that I'd write for Galactica, I'd assume you were smoking oregano. I didn't believe the stories of a remake, still fuming about Firefly and Farscape, and, to put it bluntly, if I'd written at the levels of the original Galactica pilot in my fanfic, I would have been panned. And deserved it. Call it a very pleasant surprise that I was inspired enough by BSG 2003 to write fic.

From my perspective, I can't think of pairing fics I've done. Or maybe my mind's just not coming up with any.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.

I'd have to say "The Scarab". Seeing that story finished was gratifying, because, frankly, I'd invested one hell of a lot of time in it; it wasn't perfect, I still keep finding a little hole here and there, something that I wish I'd caught, or an extra line I found in a draft that I realize I could have put in ... but in the main, I'm glad I managed to finish it. (And secretly glad I did it alone until the halfway point, because of what I heard afterwards about the difficulty of a good Buffy/Stargate crossover.)

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

I don't know about risks. "Scarab" would probably be about the riskiest project I've undertaken, and that was started in 2002, so by January of this year, I was kinda committed to it.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

My plans for the New Year involve passing the New York bar (hopefully I can eke out thirty points or so), and getting a job. All else is secondary.
