1. Elaborate on your default icon.
A state of perpetual war, a government that lies and deceives at every turn, the death of hope for a better future ... everyone should really read George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four. The last time I picked it up, I got about a hundred pages in, to the creation of the loyal, heroic Comrade Ogilvy out of whole cloth to distract from Big Brother's broken promises about the chocolate ration, and I literally could not bear to go farther.

3. Ever have a near-death experience?
When I was driving my Daytona-Shelby and got T-boned by an SUV in the driver's door, everything went black. I have no memory of the collision, just a fade-out as I entered the intersection. From then until a flash of ambulance workers trying to pull me out of the wreck is a blank. (Afterwards, several of the medics said they saw me in there and thought I was dead.)
4. Name an obvious quality you have.
I dunno. Quiet and snarky? Caring for others - I don't know if that's obvious.
5. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
The theme to the movie "Gettysburg".
6. Any celebrity you would marry?
Nobody comes to mind.
7. Who will cut and paste this first?
Hm. It's still dead-of-night stateside, so no clue.
8. Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity?
I was once told I looked like Wil Wheaton in his Wesley Crusher days. I was thinner and not as gray-haired then.

I'm wearing an Omega Constellation that was given to me as a college graduation present.

Nope. Unless you count the vein in my arm where the endocrinologist's taken blood samples every six weeks for the past year.

Nope. There's a scar on my left hand that kinda resembles some sort of kanji character. If you squint. (Residual from item 3, above.)
