You know, it's odd.

My mind threw me an oddball scenario night before last, and I've been wondering ever since.

If you were offered what seemed like a perfect job for you, by people who desparately wanted you to work for them, but they also asked you to pledge your support to an ideology you find nauseating, what would you do?

a) Take the job and worry later about reconciling your personal beliefs and a job that will put bread on your table;

b) Tell them up front that you don't believe in the ideology, won't support it, but will do the job to the best of your ability anyway;

c) Tell them to take a flying frell at a rolling donut.

I still can't decide between options B and C.

Oddly enough, the dream-scenario took place in the White House. And no, I've never seen The West Wing. I have, however, seen the inside of the actual house. In happier times...

Hm.

Sooner or later, I gotta get a hit on this job hunt.

Close entry.

Definitely B, for me. I have to put my money where my mouth is (and let them put the money where my bank account is); if I say that anyone is allowed to believe in anything that they like, then I have to act like that. Of course, giving me the job would be dependant on them accepting that I also have a right to believe what I believe...

I'd send you good-job vibes (in fact, I am sending you good-job vibes), but considering I have already decided to quit this job as soon as something better comes (and I seriously considered whether or not a one-day temp assignment was "something better"), I don't know how good my good wishes are. *g*
