So, I'm short on sleep, I get delayed getting into work because of flooding, and the classes I've been asked to help put together don't exactly go off as planned (missing laptop and projector for both sessions, plus screwed-up international conference calling on one session).

I do my best to sort it all out, though, and things seem to be going smooth.

I get out, take a turn to go deposit my paycheck so I'll have enough money to pay for the repairs that had to be done to my car, hoping that I'll make it back when I sell it.

Pull up to a stop sign, signal a left turn.

BANG!

Yep. Rear-ended by an SUV. Another yuppie tank being driven with no regard for courtesy by some entitlement-----

< insert sound of head slamming into monitor >

Anyway. She insisted I not call the cops, gave her name - I glanced at her insurance card, not the same name as she gave - insisted that the damage to my car had already been there (like hell; the impact lit up a trunk-ajar light on my dash that I know was quiet before, and I've got pictures of that side of the car from two days ago anyway), and after giving me the information almost too fast for me to take it down, drove off.

I've put in a call to the insurance company. See how they handle that.

Up side (if there is one): I didn't get hurt. Physically, that is.

Down side: the damage may knock up to a thousand dollars off the resale value of the Intrepid, and that's money I can ill afford.

Swear to God, the next person to stomp on my toes ...

Oh, no! Man, I'm sorry to hear that. That sounds like the same person who hit our car from behind. Damn SUVs.

Sounds like you need a beer and a vacation. And maybe a winning lotto ticket. Sorry life is so crappy for you right now.

Any chance you could sue for false name, and the damage to the car?`

Glad to hear that you're at least uninjured. And :hugs: because you deserve them.

Yeah, "bitch" doesn't really seem to cover that blank adequately. Did you manage to get her license plate as well as the info she gave you?

Hope your insurance company goes after that twit with a vengeance. I'm glad you're okay, but what an obviously scamming bitch. Between not wanting to call the cops, giving you the wrong name and insisting that the damage was already there, I already want to smack her. Bet you she's already got a ton of points on her license and was terrified she'd (quite rightly) get more if you called the cops.

*hugs*

I wish you'd called the police. Without a police report your insurance is going to slam you for the deductible, and most likely argue about paying anything at all. She rear ended you making it entirely her fault, and yeah, she would have gotten points on her record and had to pay the insurance surcharge for three years ... but then you would have had to sit in the rain forever. If you'd called the cops afterward they could have got her for leaving the scene, too. What a bitch. I am enraged on your behalf.
