The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that a drabble is better suited to fanfic - because there's less explaining that needs to be done. As it is, I only managed to keep it down to 100 by excluding the date header (which may be cheating or not). It reduced me to very simple brushstrokes, which left out an awful lot.
