Tell me this isn't happening.
Nov. 3rd, 2004 12:54 amTell me we're not in for four more years of ... of ...
Tell me this isn't happening.
Somebody.
PLEASE.
Because if it's true ... then as far as I'm concerned, the America I was born into died today.
ETA: so it's true. All for nothing.
Shoot me now. You'll save the Gestapo the price of the bullet...

Date: 2004-11-02 10:34 pm (UTC)Geez, I honestly didn't believe a Bush win was a real possibility until about two hours ago. As a country we just *can't* be that *dumb*!
I'm holding on to the bitter end, not accepting networks' jump to call it as being fact. But I was also strongly suspecting that Kerry would win with a nice, suprising, unexpected/underpolled margin to spare.
I grew up under Regan and BushSr, ashamed to hold my country's head up in front of the world. But *this*? Good Lord, people! Does Bush have to eat a friggin baby on the evening news before you decide that maybe he's frelled this country up enough already???
Argh.
I want to keep my icon. And I want to keep it for only 8 more weeks. *Please*!
While there is life there is hope
Date: 2004-11-02 11:22 pm (UTC)Today my mood has fluctuated from darkly pessimistic, to jubilant, to worried, to hopeful, back to hopeless and devastated, and now to determined to wait it out and see. Denial? Time will tell.
I grew up under [Reagan] and [Bush Sr], ashamed to hold my country's head up in front of the world.
Oh, indeed. And yet: there are staues erected of Ronald Reagan in many a Balkan city. The taint that rightfully belongs to GHWB's economic legacy, and to an extent to Reagan's, just isn't there. And that's part of the problem.
But *this*? Good Lord, people! Does Bush have to eat a friggin baby on the evening news before you decide that maybe he's frelled this country up enough already???
*sigh* Apparently so. Or he has to frell our country up for 4 more years.
But at least people will be sure, and resolved to do something to change it. They will long before 2008, I suspect. Perhaps 2005 will be the 1994 of the Democrats.
That's something, isn't it?
I was resolved not to say this tonight, but:
Aure Entuluva
Day shall come again.
