I saw the following poll on a game news site today:

Which of these will happen before Half-Life 2 goes gold?

- The Summer Olympics
- The Presidential Election
- The Manned Mission to Mars
- The Mars Summer Olympics

For the non-gamers who read: "going gold" is equivalent to a book going to press (traditionally, the CD containing the publishing print of the game would be gold-colored). And Half-Life 2 is a trouble-plagued (technology issues, victimized by hackers, programming source code stolen) sequel to what many consider one of the greatest computer games of all time.

...has anyone on the flist played/heard of Half-Life?

I have - fatfish is eagerly awaiting the launch of Half Life, and I think he's hoping to use it to justify buying a new computer...

Heard of it, but never played it. Isn't it an FPS (First Person Shooter)? Which would explain why; I've never been into that style of game.

And yes, Half-Life was a first-person shooter. I can't help it; I got hooked on Doom in college.

Heh. I avoided Doom like the plague. I had a hard enough time with guys that knew I played D&D trying to pick me up. I didn't need the marathon session Doom gamers trying to do the same! Plus I needed some time to study. :)
