Culture clash
Jan. 2nd, 2014 10:52 pmSo I missed the Christmas episode of Doctor Who, on account of spending about sixty percent of Christmas Day travelling, thirty percent celebrating with family, and the other forty percent zonked out from jet lag (factor in the time zones and the math just about works out, trust me). I checked my folks' DVR and saw that it would be re-airing in the wee hours of New Year's Day.
Then my mom asked me if I was interested in watching an old James Bond movie that the DVR had recorded.
What? Thunderball, Goldfinger, From Russia With Love?
"I don't remember which one; it's on the list of recorded shows."
All I saw on the list was a couple of episodes of "Frozen Planet", today's edition of NewsHour (they habitually record the 6pm broadcast from WLIW, so they can watch at their leisure instead of being shackled to the 7pm broadcast from WNET), and the oh-dark-hundred early-Wednesday-morning recording of Doctor Who...
...ohhhhhhhhhhh.
Doctor Who, not Doctor No.
Then again, my dad's the one who marveled that the British had gotten hold of Doctor Who...
