Read on the web that Marcel Marceau passed away. I don't know how it is that mime got a bad reputation in popular culture, but it certainly wasn't his fault.

I thought I'd seen him once on the Muppet Show, but I may have been mistaken - one of those things, I suppose. I do recall the gag of his appearance in Mel Brooks' Silent Movie - the world's most famous mime had all of the spoken dialogue in the film.

Never get a mime talking. He won't stop.

Just finished translating a seven-page draft act or directive or something like that from the Governor of the Bank of Greece. The thing took me four days, during which I was practically living on Babelfish and petit-beurre biscuits, with occasional breaks for fresh air.

Translating technical stuff from a language you barely understand well enough to survive, on a subject you've got trouble with in your native tongue? Good way to kill off brain cells by the kilo, and make you feel like you never had that many to begin with.

Plus I've got to give this thing in tomorrow morning, and I'm too wired to sleep at the moment.
