According to reports [livejournal.com profile] suzvoy passed along, anyone listing an interest on LJ that's considered objectionable by a group calling themselves "Warriors for Innocence" is getting deleted. Which is about like trying to kill off a cockroach in midtown Manhattan by setting off a nuke.

Remember, first they came for the Communists...

Pass it on.

If I mention that I'm worried that with the current censorship kerfuffle, LiveJournal may end up resembling scenic downtown Vorkosigan Vashnoi, would that be too subtle for people?

For me, as it stands, LJ is a communication tool as much as a journal or a blog, and with inquisitorial mindsets, I'm afraid that ... well, it shouldn't be too hard to guess what I'm afraid of.

Don't know how much help it's going to be, but the whole thing about the "Warriors for Innocence" trying to fight against things they find objectionable by destroying anything they think might look suspicious? I'm referring to it as nuclear warfare, in the sense that it's indiscriminate, wide-ranging, with damage far beyond the people they're supposedly aiming for. Seeing it referred to that way might strip them of some of the moral high ground, because it's not just about the people they don't like; it's also about the people who didn't even know what was going on, caught in the blast wave...
