Shylock lives.
Oct. 21st, 2006 12:50 pmOne thing that did happen was that I got a stipend for my time with the internship in Athens. The bad news is that it was in euros, and all the banks were closed (they close real early there). So, I get home, and figure I should deposit that money in my bank account, no?
My bank offered to do it for me ... at ten cents a euro under the market exchange rate.
I know banks make money by skewing percentages and things, but ten cents a euro? Taking a ten percent cut of my stipend?
Searching for places to go to make the exchange into dollars. Prepared to accept a moderately adverse exchange rate, but ten cents a euro is for the birds.
