The DirecTV DVR that the family got last month is a marvel - it can even record one channel while watching another.

I should say, it's a marvel WHEN IT WORKS.

The past few days, it's gone completely bat-guano insane, refusing to change channels, and mistaking the "play recorded program" command for the "switch to previous channel" command.

I can maybe get it to work at times, by cajoling it, hammering the reset button, unplugging and plugging it in again ... but it's not reliable right now. *sigh*

And the worst part: I tried recording the new Battlestar, Resurrection Ship, Part 1, and I can't play it.

They're sending out a new DVR box in the next few days, but when it comes, anything we have recorded on the old box goes bye-bye.

Did anyone manage to record last Friday's Battlestar?

And now the DVR box is stuck in an infinite startup loop, which never gets to the point where it gives a TV picture.

Ah well. Time to sleep.
