Came to realize something.
Oct. 8th, 2004 11:28 pmOn the drive home from the office the other day, I turned on the news radio station, and heard something ... in the political arena ... that led to me screaming obscenities at the radio deck.
I don't use casual profanity. People who've worked with me in the past have noted that when profane language comes from my direction, that's a red flag of some sort. (It also creeps into my writing; nowhere in my fics will you see words that wouldn't pass muster on broadcast TV, for example, and it doesn't show up in this blog, either, unless I'm making an entry in extremis.
Based on the fact that I've been reduced to screaming profanities in my car at the news radio, I decided that for the sake of my health, I would skip tonight's Presidential debate. My brother derided that decision; he insisted that it was showing a sort of weakness on my part, or something like that. I think his comment was "so much the worse for you".
I prefer to think there's only so much one person can absorb, so much one person can endure.
I wasn't reduced to profanities tonight. I might actually be able to sleep tonight.
Gonna be a working weekend, anyway. I need a good night's sleep.
