What to make of it?
Sep. 17th, 2003 02:40 pmA week or so ago, I saw one of those lj meme tests and took it. This one was to gauge how rich you were in comparison to the rest of the planet, and would rank you in the world's population, all from an analysis of how much money you made in the past year.
I put in a truthful answer (zero) and it told me that it didn't believe me, and that if it were true, not only was my richness rank somewhere around five-point-seven billion, but that I probably didn't have access to a computer.
Then it said something to the effect of "we were going to ask you to donate money to this cause, but considering you don't have money to donate..."
As an experiment, I put in something like ten thousand dollars a year. The answer came back, with a plea to donate to this cause. "There are people less fortunate than you, so please give us some money, and we promise to give some to the less fortunate, after taking out administrative costs, and parking fees, and currency exchange fees, and tips for the cabana boys, and..."
