Antidote to the global insanity
Mar. 20th, 2003 09:56 amDave Barry on weddings.
"What we need is a law prohibiting brides from planning their weddings more than, say, a week in advance. A bride caught violating this law would be subject to severe punishment, such as being forced to walk down the aisle to the tune of I Shot the Sheriff."

Musing on reporting
Mar. 20th, 2003 01:55 pmHave seen various takes on Operation Whatever-the-Frell-the-Politicos-are-Calling-It. Everyone dealing with it in various levels of excitement, it appears to me.
Except, oddly enough, Dan Rather.
I don't know how much it's worth, but that is the one place I've observed the facts coming out with no joy, no exultation, no rah-rah patriotism. Maybe I'm imagining the sadness in Gunga Dan's voice, maybe he isn't actually bitter and disgusted. I think I'll stick with my illusions.
An observation on the goings-on, punctuated with a reminder of "the savagery of war - war *is* savagery."
Anyway. Back to aggressively not dealing. Going to try and job-hunt some more (thank you for tossing me out on the bricks, Dubya!), and in the intervals, lose myself in Freelancer. And editing my stories.
Was it Spike whose reaction to adversity was to "get profoundly drunk"?
