Quick question

In the United Kingdom, what would be the proper name for the tractor part of a tractor-trailer?

And what would be the name for what someone in America would call a hood ornament? (seeing as how the "hood" of a car does not mean the front engine compartment cover in Imperial English?)

From Googling around it looks like a tractor trailer is called an articulated lorry in the UK (so I'm not sure there is an equivelant of "the tractor part of a tractor trailer" - though they apparantly also call a tractor trailer an artic or a juggernaut) and what we call a hood ornament is called a car mascot in the UK...

But I'm not from the UK so I don't know if the Google links have it right or not...

Articulated lorry is right-- not sure about the hood ornament but I'll ask when I go out later. hood = bonnet, though.

Articulated lorry sounds right, but if one were just dealing with the tractor portion? "Articulated lorry tractor?"

On the same page from which I got "car mascot" they did us something like "hood ornament (bonnet ornament)" or "hood/bonnet ornamment" (dont' remember which way for sure) as part of the paragraph that mentioned the car mascot.
