Well, *that* went well.

Ever have one of those days?

3am, submit the biggest work of writing of life to the Stargate fanfic archive at Heliopolis only to find out that a chapter got repeated in the cut-and-pasting. No idea how that's gonna get ironed out.

Then comes morning. Go on the job hunt, literally hitting the bricks. To the old place where a living was once actually earned, only to find out that half the people who are left there are about to get downsized.

It's not just that I can't find a job; the jobs people have are frelling vaporizing. Blamed on spending cuts. Blamed on one particular political party. Not the party running the nation, mind you.

I don't care for the frelling blame game. Need to work, goddamnit!

Oh, and the capper? Get back from the fruitless job hunt to find e-mail that someone loved the fic on Heliopolis and desperately wants to find out what happened after the archive cut off the post a third of the way through.

AIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Ahem.

Please pay no attention to the primal scream coming from the shadow of the George Washington Bridge.

Close entry.

Massive suckage. *sympathy*

Hey, you could move to Chicago. I think my company's legal department is looking for another staff attorney, and you did just finish taking the bar.

Seriously? It would be too cool to work with another person who's in fandom.

{{{{{hugs}}}}} Man, every frelling bit of that (except for the mixed blessing of the feedback email) just bites! You deserve WAY better.

So, is this a new fic, or the one I'm ever-so-glad I took the time to read Monday even though I've been not reading fic in general due to lack of time?

News flash, my friend: As near as I can tell, you ARE the major leagues.

< massive hugs >

All of this bites, oh yes! Sorry about the job sitch -- hunting is suck a pain in the ass in the best of times, and this sure ain't them. But you'll find something cool eventually, I have faith.

As for the archive... Wow. The crew running Heliopolis now is new to the gig, but that's still.... wow. < crossing fingers > it all gets strightened out soon. But at laest you know someone (else) loves the fic!

You can scream near the bridge all you want -- just don't jump off of it! :)

*tired hugs* What they said. (Ditto - I think you do qualify as the major leagues now.)

I suppose this is NOT a good time to ask you if "The Scarab" is archived someplace reliable where I could link to from my fanfic recs page? ;)

Forgive the out-of-it-ness, just assembled a desk chair. (Instructions made sense, but they didn't mention the sheer amount of wrestling involved to get the armrests in...)

Ack! Much sympathy!

I hate when the archiving is frelled. I'm sure they'll straighten it out - Heliopolis is very used to this - but I know it's a screaming thing until it is. Hey, you should put this up at the Buffy fanfic archive while you're at it - if the very idea doesn't invoke more screamage.

Also much sympathy on the jobhunt, oh yes. I've been there. AM there. Doing that. *hugs* and the junk food of your choice on that one.

"Scarab" really is big leagues, y'know. I was re-reading it this morning, and admiring the actiony bits. I can never get those right. Plus everyone is in character - which is such a huge freakin' accomplishment in a crossover fic, I don't know where to start.

Now, excuse me. Must go rewatch Stargate and try to figure out what the hell happened.

I see you found the archive at shriftweb. org just fine: Whee! I was unconscious all day, or I would've sent you the link sooner. As Tina will tell you, left to my own devices, I'm turning into an insane vampire.

As for the miracles - yah. Sucks, but yah. I'm just trying to find *anything* now. Good luck fo you on the same, until you get a Real Life Grown Up Job.

Third: y'know, I always figured that keeping characters in character was something you kinda had to do if you were going to write fanfic in the first place. << snip >> if one hasn't got a decent handle on the character, one's got no business writing the character, has been my opinion...

Hey, ditto ditto ditto. And yet, I scour crossover archives, and so much of it shows only minimal familiarity with one fandom over another... it's sad. I know they can't all be When Hellmouths Collide, but still. Which is why it was ultra-cool to read yours, since I have very very little jarringness along the way, and so much *squee!* over the joy of the interaction going so well.

Heck, "Scarab" only took me two years to plot out and write, and much of that time I spent reviewing SG-1 and Buffy videos eps...

Then I take my hat off to you again for persistence! Go, you!
