European randomness
This island was not designed with cars in mind.
There are three major streets in the town center; two of them are footpaths, and one is barely wide enough to hold two small cars if they don't mind trading paint on the fenders. And if a bus comes through? Forget it.
Didn't used to matter; until about 30 years ago, you couldn't get a car onto the island anyway. Now, with the ferries every day, traffic's getting nightmarish.
I prefer to walk. Even if every time I go from the house down to the town, I'm walking a path that makes me think "the English pigs are in the Street of Steps!"
Navarone, without the guns, I suppose.
Which brought to mind a horrible thought I had one day climbing those steps: the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink crossover called the Journeyverse. It hit me: they had Xander do practically everything but blow up the guns of Navarone.
Then, as the brain is wont to do, mine stopped dead and said ... "No. They wouldn't. Would they?"
Google says they didn't. Thank God.
On the home front:
My brother has graduated to walking with a cane. Good news.
