Shelter in place

Greece is in shelter-in-place mode right now. Haven't left the apartment in nine days other than to get groceries (the shelves are largely full) and check in on my elderly aunt who lives alone about three blocks uphill from me. I'm healthy, other than a backache probably caused by restrictions on movement (my daily walk to and from work was a big chunk of exercise that I've lost during the lockdown).

My plans for visiting the US are on hold. Travel restrictions, mandatory quarantines, passing through a third country (UK) en route: the logistics look awful. Losing time with the most important people in my life hurts, but the risks can't be ignored.

I miss my home.

I'm not happy that your plans are on hold, but truly, you don't want to be in this insanity. Metro is cutting back on trains and buses, so if you wanted to get around it would be harder, and everything except some restaurants and grocery stores is closed. The owner of several expensive tapas restaurants has closed them and turned them into community kitchens to feed whoever needs food -- which makes me want to eat at his place again when things change even though his prices are high.
