What would you do with a hundred and fifty thousand dollars?

Is it sexist of me to say that even if I had a clothing budget of $150,000, that I couldn't imagine spending that much on clothes? In a lifetime?

Holy cow.

I have to wear business clothes to work, and even if I doubled the number of suits I own, and got a full set of ties, nice shirts, a few more pairs of lightweight Dressports ... no, I still couldn't come close.

(Now me, if I had 150,000 clams, and no debts, and a mandate to spend it ... I'd buy a DeLorean. And then send it to one of those custom shops to get it converted to hybrid-electric. (Someone's already done a full-electric conversion.)

It's especially disheartening when the RNC guy says "well, all the clothes will be going to a charitable purpose!" in a huffy manner. Great that they are, but that's a lot of money in the first place.

Especially since it's rather a point of pride with the Obamas that they can look great for a whole lot less. (Michelle's favorite trail dress? Banana Republic, on sale now for $38. I got me one last night, under orders of the Big Dog on the project, who seemed to think that jeans and boots weren't called for. This from the man who handed me a plane ticket without any warning whatsoever. But it's a nice, business-y little dress, for cheep.)
