Explanation
I can be an idiot sometimes.
I weighed in with an opinion on the Firefly vid controversy, and did so while I was stressed over my desktop computer's spontaneous lobotomy. In the process, I arranged for a message on my home page - and then started to worry that cheesing off the wrong people might cause problems for my site, and for the damsel who graciously maintains and hosts my site.
I have since been assured that my fears were unfounded.
The point I was originally trying to make was that any fan-made creative efforts, unless specifically authorized by the owners of the canon, can be put at risk, hence the need for courtesy and respect among people in the fandom. My site was not obliterated - in fact, by the time this goes up on LJ, hopefully Irregularities should be back as though nothing ever happened - but the point was, it could have been. Any fannish site could have been destroyed, as several have been in the past day or two.
One post on the Fireflyfans.net board suggested that if there was a threat, it came from Nia and LJC. My experience has been that if you treat other people with respect - wherever you are - you will get back that respect, if the person you're dealing with has any semblance of reason. So, to Tara, and Nia if she reads this, I never felt any threat from you or the other people who shared your views.
There are irrational people out there, unfortunately. Can't be helped. Sometimes I forget that.
Hopefully things will be better.
