Personal update

Saw the eye doctor today, and learned that some of the side effects of my thyroid storm of the fall will not recede: specifically, the Marty Feldman eyes are with me to stay. Best I can hope for is that they don't get pushed further out of their sockets.

Got a new set of glasses and frames, though, with a sunglasses clip - to replace the clip that latched onto the broiler pan sometime around Christmas and got baked. I can finally go out in the sun again without the glare blinding me, I hope.

Also picked up a cheap device that, with some electronic surgery, makes my laptop Bluetooth-capable. For the future, just in case. Oddly enough, the installation process, while elaborate, was quite soothing, in a peculiar way.

Wonder what's with that?

I've still never actually bothered to find out what Bluetooth does...what is it, again?

It's like a wireless replacement for connection cables - like between a cell phone and a headset, or between a computer and a PDA (Palm or Pocket PC). Not the type of wireless that gets you to the Internet, but more of a "cable replacement" type deal.
